SpecTec, the global provider of maritime asset management software solutions, has launched a business unit dedicated to the cruise industry. The mission of the cruise entity is to deliver industry specific software solutions that assist cruise companies to achieve their strategic business objectives.

The organizations flagship product AMOS has established itself as the market leader in the cruise sector and is widely utilized by many of the largest operators.

Roddy MacLennan, CEO for the Cruise Business Unit at SpecTec commented, “The formation of the business unit is a significant step in gaining closer intimacy with a market we have served so effectively for many years.

The investment in additional skilled resource for cruise, aligned to a dedicated product roadmap with collaborative input from the industry, leaves us well placed to meet the future needs of cruise operators.”

To support integrated development across this business unit, four work streams have been launched to focus strategic direction on AMOS development, regulation and industry trends, technology advancements, and service releases. This structure services a global reach to customers including major parts of the industry in the U.S. and across Europe, that is complemented with a local focus and locally resourced teams.

The cruise market has changed markedly over recent years. Regulation, safety, security, and other factors have become drivers in shaping the future direction of the industry. The market has also become more aware of technology advancements, particularly in the digital space.
An innovative product roadmap, centered on the end user experience for globally connected fleets, sets out the vision for cruise.

MacLennan remarked, “The technology development is based on the future requirements of the market and has involved extensive engagement with our cruise customers. Digitalization has no boundaries where customers are concerned, so we are seeking to move forward with game changing solutions that contribute to an exceptional cruise experience for guests and the crew, while maximizing safety, security, and environmental requirements across the fleet.”

The investment in cruise has been supported by SpecTec’s parent company, Volaris Group, which is an Operating Group of Constellation Software Inc.

Michael Dufton, Portfolio Leader and Head of the Volaris Marine vertical said, “The cruise market is growing year on year and this is reflected in the announcement of some major new build programs for vessels in the future. The formation of a SpecTec business unit dedicated to cruise is part of a sustainable long-term investment strategy based on delivering the next generation of software solutions for the cruise market.”
